I. Marine Expeditionary Force

The I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF ) is a major unit of the U.S. Marine Corps as part of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force concept ( MAGTF ). This association is primarily composed of the 1st Marine Division, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and the 1st Marine Logistics Group of. In general, the association is spelled as follows: " Eye MEF " (because of the pronunciation of I in English ), "First MEF " or " ONE MEF ". As an association to corps level, the I MEF is commanded by a Lieutenant General. Current commander is Lieutenant General Thomas D. Waldhauser, who is also commander of Marine Corps Forces Central U.S. Central Command.

Formation

The association was erected on November 8, 1969, Okinawa ( Japan) as I Marine Expeditionary Force. The association was renamed on August 18, 1970 in I. Marine Amphibious Force and relocated in April 1971 to Camp Pendleton. On 5 February 1988, he was again renamed I. Marine Expeditionary Force.

Generally

Use groups after the MAGTF concept basically include four basic components: rod component ( Command Element), ground combat component ( Ground Combat Element), air combat component ( Aviation Combat Element) and a supply component ( Combat Service Support Element).

The three Marine Expeditionary Forces are the Fleet Marine Force, a worldwide used crisis reaction force which acts from the five with shipping from the U.S. Navy. The I MEF and III MEF in the Pacific and the II MEF are used in the Atlantic region.

The headquarters of the I MEF is the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California. Regionally responsible for the West Coast of the United States. She is responsible within the MAGTF concept following units:

Order of I MEF is the use frontline or the command of mixed associations of the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Navy medic.
