Ialomița County

Ialomiţa [ jalomitsa ] is a Romanian county ( Judet ) in the Walachia region, with the county seat Slobozia. Its common abbreviation and the license plate number are IL.

Demography

In 2002, the county 296 572 inhabitants and a population density of 67 inhabitants per km ². 95.6 % were Romanians, 4.1% were Roma and 0.2 % were Lipovans.

2011 had the circle Ialomiţa 274 148 inhabitants, thus a population density of 62 inhabitants per km ². 88.18 % were Romanians, 5.2% Roma and 0.13 % Lipovans.

Geography

The county has a total area of 4,453 km ², which represents 1.86 % of the area of Romania.
