Iams

Iams is a registered dog and cat food brand of Procter & Gamble. The brand was established in September 1999, a part of Procter & Gamble.

History

The animal feed producers Paul Iams founded Iams Company in 1946 in a small mill for feed in Dayton, Ohio in the United States. Clay Mathile 1970 was a member of Iams and acquired the company in 1982. He laid the foundation for today's global sales of Iams dog and cat food.

In September 1999, Jeffrey Ansell was the president of Iams Company and was responsible for the acquisition by Procter & Gamble. In February 2001, Ansell was given a higher position at Procter & Gamble and was thus at the same time president of the company in the distribution of animal feed worldwide.

After Procter & Gamble sold its production plant in South Dakota 2003 Menu Foods, this company is the exclusive manufacturer of wet food for " Iams " ( brand " IAMS ", " Eukanuba ", etc.).

Products

Iams provides dry food and wet food in her pouches for cats that are produced according to three age groups.

• Adult 1-6 years
• Senior & Mature 7 years

Criticism

Iams is from the U.S. organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals ( PETA short ) and of In Defense of Animals attacked because of unnecessary testing, carried out on behalf of Iams and 2006 from private and university laboratories. Iams said, at that time, these attempts were needed to learn about animal nutrition and allergies figure out that could potentially cause the lining.
