Ian Cox

Ian Gary Cox ( born March 25, 1971 in Croydon, London, UK ) is a football player who is eligible to play internationally for Trinidad and Tobago. Cox plays both center-back and in midfield. He is very combative and strong in the air and up to date at Gillingham FC in the Football League One, the third English league, active. Although he was born in England, he decided to play internationally for the Football Association of Trinidad and Tobago; currently at the A - squad of the national team of his native country.

Club career

Cox began his career as a professional football player when he by the then six- division club Carshalton Athletic moved in 1994 to Crystal Palace, with whom he spent a year at the time of the highest and one season in the second highest English league. However, he could not secure a place in the starting eleven at Crystal Palace, so joining Cox in 1996 for third division side AFC Bournemouth. There he was a regular right away and played more than 160 league games before moving to season 2000/ 01 for second division FC Burnley after his contract expires. 2003/ 04 he moved again free transfer to FC Gillingham, where he still plays today.

National

Cox debuted first as a 28 -year-old in 2000 with a 0-1 defeat against Morocco in the selection of his home, but he said after only five more games in the spring of 2001 his retirement from the national team in order to concentrate on his club career. However, he returned in 2004 back to the selection and completed six qualifying matches for the 2006 World Cup; total he played 16 times for his country. Although Cox was nominated for the final round -up from their home country for the 2006 World Cup, but is more of a substitute, as he had in 2006 only one use for Trinidad and Tobago.
