Ian Cundy

Ian Patrick Martyn Cundy ( born April 23, 1945 in Sturminster Newton, Dorset, † 7 May 2009) was an Anglican bishop of the Church of England.

Cundy attended Trinity College, Cambridge, where he studied mathematics and theology, as well as the Tyndale Hall Theological College. In 1970 he was ordained a priest and served in various parishes. 1992 Cundy received his episcopal consecration and was suffragan ( bishop area ) with the title Bishop of Lewes. In 1996 he was appointed Bishop of Peterborough. As such, he was in March 2001 in the House of Lords spiritual Lord.

Cundy, who suffered from a pleural mesothelioma, had announced his resignation from his position in July 2009. He died unexpectedly on May 7, D. J. on the way from Cambridgeshire to the West Country to a family celebration.

Cundy was married and had three children, two sons and a daughter.
