Ian Scheckter

Ian Scheckter ( born August 22, 1947 in East London, South Africa ) is a former South African racing driver and brother of Formula 1 World Champion of 1979 Jody Scheckter.

Ian followed his brother to Europe and the Formula 1 after he had won in Formula Ford "Sunshine Series". His Formula 1 debut Ian Scheckter at the Grand Prix of South Africa in 1974 in the Team Gunston. In the years 1975 and 1976 he drove a few races in the team of Frank Williams, in Tyrrell of Alex Blignaut teams. In the 1977 season Ian completed 14 of 17 races for the March team.

After his Formula 1 involvement Ian Scheckter dominated the South African South African Formula Atlantic Championship, the successor series of the South African Formula 1 championship, which he (among them four times in a row) won six times.
