Ian Sommerville (academic)

Ian Sommerville ( born 1951 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a British computer scientist. He is a university professor at the University of St Andrews and author of a software engineering textbook.

Life

Sommerville studied physics at the University of Strathclyde and computer science at the University of St Andrews. From 1975 to 1978 he was a lecturer at Heriot -Watt University in Edinburgh and then to 1986 at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. In 1986 he was appointed professor in the subject Software Engineering at the University of Lancaster. In 2006 he moved to the University of St Andrews.
