IAU 100 km World Championships

The 100 - km road race World Championships (since 2010 IAU 100 km World Championships; previously IAU 100 km World Cup and 1993 to 2003 IAU 100 km World Challenge ) since 1987 by the International Association of Ultra Runners ( IAU) under the auspices IAAF aligned ultramarathon competitions that are held as a road race over a distance of 100 km.

History

The discharge of 1989 took place without the authorization of the IAU, and was only included in the official count later. In 1991 a team ranking was introduced, the best three results of the rotor of a nation are added in both men as well as among women.

2010, the event has been upgraded with the approval of the IAAF World Championships. 2013 on 13 October in Jeju -do ( South Korea) scheduled discharge was canceled due to financial problems of the local organizing committee.

So far, German teams have won two gold medals in the men's (1992, 1994), two silvers (1991, 1998) and four bronze medals (2001, 2003, 2005, 2006). For women, there has been in the team standings four gold medals ( 1991, 1992, 1998, 2000 ), three silver medals ( 1995, 1996, 2003) and four bronze medals (1997, 1999, 2001, 2007). In the individual competition won in the men Herbert Cuntz (1989 ), Kazimierz Bak (1994) and Michael Sommer (2003) bronze. In the women gathered in 1989 Catherine Janicke gold and Sigrid Lomsky silver, while Maria Bak 1995, Constanze Wagner 2000 and Elke Hiebl 2003 ran on the bronze medal.
