IBM RAD6000

The IBM RAD6000 is based on a 32 -bit architecture RISC microcontroller which was developed by the American company IBM specifically for use in space vehicles. Among other things, it is used in the Mars Pathfinder missions and DAWN. Due to the semiconductor technology used, the probability of the occurrence of errors by single event effects is reduced.

The maximum clock rate is specified at 33 MHz, the processing speed of 35 MIPS. The chip is manufactured with a structure size of 500 nm and used depending on the clock rate of 2.5 to 20 W at a voltage of 3.3 volts. The operating system is preferably VxWorks is used, with development environments for C and Ada are available.
