Ibn Abi Usaibi?a

Ibn Abi Usaibi ʿ a ( Arabic ابن أبي أصيبعة, DMG Ibn Abī Uṣaibi ʿ a, * after 1194 in Damascus, † 1270 in Salkhad ) was an Arab physician and biographer of the 13th century. His full name was Muwaffaq ad - Dīn Abū al - ʿ Abbās Ahmad ibn al - Qāsim ibn Khalifa ibn Yūnus ash- ski ʿ rī al - Chazradschī / موفق الدين أبو العباس أحمد بن القاسم بن خليفة بن يونس الشعري الخزرجي / Muwaffaq ad - Dīn Abū l - ʿ Abbās Aḥmad b. al - Qāsim b. Life

Ibn Abi ʿ a Usaibi came from a family of doctors. He studied medicine at Damascus and was doing botany lessons of Ibn al - Baitar. Ibn Abi ʿ a Usaibi worked in Damascus Nuri Hospital. Later he moved to the Nasir hospital in Cairo. In 1236, he entered the service of ʿ Izz ad-Din al -Mu ʿ Aibak Azzami in Salkhad, where he died in 1270.

Ibn Abi Usaibi ʿ a was known for his collection of biographies عيون الأنباء في طبقات الأطباء / Uyūn ʿ al - Anba ʾ fī al - Tabaqat aṭibbā ʾ ( "Sources of News of the doctors generations ").
