Ibn Majah

Ibn Majah, completely Abū ʿ Abdallah Muhammad ibn Yazīd ibn ʿ Abdallah al - Qazwini al -ma ʿ ruf bi- Ibn Māǧa (Arabic ابن ماجة, DMG Ibn Māǧa; * 824 in the Persian Qazvin, † 887 ), was an Islamic scholar, writer and collector of hadith ( traditions of the Prophet Mohammed ).

At 22, he set out from his hometown and traveled through large parts of the then Islamic world. He gathered all the information they possess the prophet Mohammed. After his trip he gathered disciples around him and wrote several books. His most important work is the book Kitaab al- sunan. It is one of the six books ( original title: al- Kutub as - Sitta ) the Sunnah ( tradition ), collections of traditions about the Prophet Mohammed. Ibn Majah records in his work on 4,341 so-called Hadith.
