Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque
The Ibrahim -al- Ibrahim Mosque (eng: Ibrahim -al- Ibrahim Mosque, also known as the King Fahd bin Abdulaziz al -Saud Mosque and Mosque of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques ) is a mosque situated at the southern tip of Gibraltar, at Europa Point. It lies at the foot of the Monkey Rock.
Construction
The building was a gift of the Saudi Arabian King Fahd, cost 5 million pounds and after the foundation stone was laid in 1995, the construction took two years. The mosque was officially opened on 8 August 1997.
It is the southernmost mosque in Europe and one of the largest mosques, which was built in a non- Muslim country.
Building complex
The mosque complex also includes a school, a library and an auditorium. It is the only mosque built as such buildings of Gibraltar, the Muslim proportion of the population is approximately 3.4%.
