IC2000

As IC2000 are in Switzerland, the double-decker express train passenger cars of the SBB, which were procured from 1997, respectively. This allowed for 200 kilometers per hour passenger cars were purchased originally in five car types (Bt, B, BR, A, AD ), which can partly be slightly different among themselves but. In addition, since the delivery of various changes have been made, so that later seven and now six different types are available. Of the other European double-deck coaches they differ mainly by the transition located on the upper deck.

Technical

The car is equipped with standard UIC coupling and buffers, and can be coupled with other cars. However, the people closed transition does not correspond to the UIC standard and no transition to other types of cars, it is possible. Also the car cross-section is larger than the normal SBB clearance gauge, because the cars are built to the clearance gauge EBV 02. Thus, the car can only be used on appropriately developed and approved for this profile distances. The whole vehicle with the persons transitions is druckertüchtigt, thus no pressure surges occur when trains in tunnels on. The whole upper deck is consistently free of steps, here normally circulates the Railbar (a special form of the mini-bar), which may announce audibly and visually with key switch, also on the lower deck.

The control car is set up for remote control of locomotives of the series Re 460/465. But the 18-pin UIC line as well as the 9-pin ep- line need to be connected. The use of a single-storey IC Bt ( control cars for standard car -IV - composition based on the EC- cars) as control car instead of IC2000 -Bt is possible.

The cars were finally assembled at Schindler Waggon AG in Pratteln. The aluminum car bodies were welded in the former the flight and vehicle plants Altenrhein factory in Altenrhein. The electrical components are supplied by ABB Daimler - Benz Transportation AG in Zurich -Oerlikon (then ADtranz, now part of Bombardier Transportation) and the bogies of FIAT -SIG in Neuhausen Rhine Falls ( today Alstom ).

Carbody

The car bodies are made of aluminum construction. All technical equipment are located above the bogies, and the Bt and AD also in the roof. The floor of the lower deck is floating on special rubber elements. The floor of the upper deck is an aluminum sandwich panel is covered with a textile covering and at the same time forms the ceiling of the lower deck. As a double glazing window panes are used in laminated glass design, the number of windows is by car type. The wall cladding is made of impact - and scratch-resistant moldings. In these, a guide rail for the protection is integrated in the sun visor of the windows. On the lower deck, the closed, windowless toilets are housed. In addition to the inputs in the basement is located toward the car the end of the stairway to the upper floor. Most of the seats are mounted in vis- à-vis arrangement in 2nd class in 2-2 arrangement and in the first class in 2-1 arrangement. Above the doors upstairs so-called lounge seats are mounted under the benches in the car longitudinal direction is a part of the door drive.

Landing gear

It come with air suspension bogies with H - frame of FIAT -SIG used. The brake system consists of two discs on each axle, and two pneumatically operated magnetic brakes per bogie. It is built in a load-dependent brake booster, which works only when the air suspension.

Electrical equipment

The power supply takes place 16.7 hertz by the train line with 1000 volts. From the train line of water-cooled static converters (BUR ) and the two heating coils are supplied via an isolating and earthing box. The auxiliary converter also ensures the charge of the four batteries with 36 volts and a total capacity of 400 Ah. As of circa 2008 were gradually provided by any car with 230 V sockets for portable devices of travelers after the AD- cars were only been equipped in a first phase. All electrical and pneumatic supply is monitored by an onboard computer that can be accessed by TCN from other cars in the train composition.

Pneumatics and toilets

The pneumatic equipment comprises in addition to the braking system also, the air suspension, and the door control system, and the air supply to the toilet.

The druckertüchtigten toilets are designed as vacuum toilets. The toilet door is equipped with a magnetic lock that is locked automatically at full holding tank or a fault. The Bt and A have a normal toilet, while the B-car is equipped with two flush toilets. The AD has a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

Air conditioning

The air conditioning system is designed as a duct system. The units themselves are constructed as a two- channel devices, thus a better conditioning of the lower and upper decks can be achieved. The air conditioners are working with mixed air, that is, it is for the purpose of energy saving before the actual air conditioning mixed outdoor and recirculation air flow proportion. The setpoint of the room temperature is 22 ° C and can be manually adjusted by the train crew to ± 2 ° C, at very low or high outside temperatures, the room temperature is adjusted according to SBB characteristic. Only the exhaust air from the toilets is passed through special fans directly into the open. In the toilet facilities and spaces available additional convection heater mounted due to increased heat demand in winter.

The A, B and WR cars have two air conditioning units, while in the AD only an air conditioner and a normal air conditioner and a split air conditioner are installed in Bt.

Types of cars

Bt

The control to second class with 98 seats was built from the beginning as a pure Non smoking car. On the lower deck there is a multi-purpose compartment for bikes (7 places) and luggage. In winter special holders are mounted on skis instead of the bike mounts. Half of the control cars were equipped on the upper deck with a play area, this had as a theme among other globin, dinosaurs and space. This game cars were mainly due to the IC lines St. Gallen- Zurich -Geneva and Roman Horn Zurich -Brig in use and were externally to recognize the glued colored figures, with a blue ribbon in the upper white stripe. The upper deck has per page 10 window while the lower deck on one side and 5 on the other 4 windows has.

2009 decided to convert all Bt family car, thereby install a new play area in the upper deck. This new design foils were attached. By the end of 2012, all cars were adapted.

B

In the second - class cars with 126 seats by 2005 one third of the upper deck for smokers was provided, the glass doors, meanwhile, were removed. The upper deck has 14 per side windows, while the lower deck has on each side for 5 windows.

BR / WRB

This car is available with two different interiors. First, only buffet car (BR ) were provided with service counter in the basement. As a result of customer complaints but for the east-west traffic ( Genf-Bern-Zürich-St. Gallen) 16 in the dining car ( WRB ) were rebuilt with service in the upper deck, 10 remained in the original state. The body is based on the A- car, but it's just a side door opened to the public, the other is used for the supply of catering equipment.

Both the BR and WRB variant has some seats in the entrance area, which are based on the A- seat box (width 2-1 for assembly and adjustable backrest). The seats, however, are manufactured in the blue B- reference and also as a 2nd class declares because of the speed and window arrangement and because of the staircase for the service staff.

The upper deck at the old Bistro car had ever page 13 window while the lower deck on one side and 5 on the other had 4 windows. In today's dining and bistro car, there are known 13 windows per side on the upper deck, while there are only three windows per side on the lower deck.

In the dining car is the red, tapered band between the doors above the separator line in the white stripes. At the bistro car, it is located in the lower white stripe.

A

In the first - class car with 86 seats by the end of 2005, a third of the upper deck for smokers was provided, the glass door was removed in the meantime. The upper deck has 13 per side windows, while the lower deck on one side and 5 on the other 4 windows has.

AD

The combined Erster-Klasse-/Gepäckwagen with 61 seats was built from the beginning as a pure Non smoking car. The upper deck has per page 10 window while the lower deck has on each side 4 windows. The luggage compartment has an additional one window for each page.

This car has only one persons input, the Gepäcktor is set up only for official use. The lower deck is equipped with a disabled toilet and parking spaces for wheelchairs. On the side of the luggage compartment, a lift is installed, the lower deck leads from the passenger compartment through the luggage compartment into the upper deck to Zugchefabteil and the passenger compartment; this is mainly used for the mini bar, which has its parking space in the luggage compartment. The luggage compartment also serves as an emergency exit. In the case of Zugevakuierung passengers can escape through this part of the AD wagon.

Subsequently, the upper deck has been converted into a business compartment in all AD trucks. Here were eight tables at the seats and power outlets near the door to Zugchefabteil three were removed from the original 64 squares and set in place a cloakroom, and more luggage storage area and two outlet fuses mounted.

Number of vehicles

1920-939 equipped from the start with children's compartment, by 2012, all 40 cars were redesigned as a family car 2geliefert as BR 50 85 66-94 000-015

Use

Due to the larger clearance gauge is not possible by permissive use. As the first section, the inter-regional route Luzern- Zurich - Zurich in 1997 driven airport.

On the following well-known lines, an insert is not possible: Jurasüdfuss ( between Yverdon and Lausanne, due to a bridge at the same Yverdon and two tunnels in Ependes ), Gotthard including Ticino ( from Rotkreuz, train, Lucerne ), Lötschberg ( mountain route from Frutigen, a However overpass over the SIM corridor is possible), Entlebuch, Broyelinie including Fribourg- Yverdon, Uznach -St. Gallen, Bischofszellerstrasse line Seetalbahn, Tösstal train and all the lines in the Jura. On non SBB own routes, they are only allowed on the old SOB network ( without BT) and BLS network between Rosshäusern -Berne- Spiez -Interlaken and Guerbetal - Spiez -Lenk Raron -. This list is not complete, besides these routes can be cycled in part as exceptional item. That is, for exhibitions and the like can double-deck vehicles also appear at stations, the official must not be approached.

In 2008 timetable they were regularly as IC and IR on the following lines in use:

  • St. Gallen- Zurich -Bern -Lausanne -Geneva -Geneva airport
  • Roman horn - Zurich -Bern -Brig
  • Biel- Bern
  • Lucerne - Zurich ( Zurich - Airport )
  • Basel- Zurich airport (only temporarily)
  • Basel- Zurich ( Chur ) ( only a few services, each with different intermediate stops )

The trains of the rounds Bern -Biel and Bern- Burgdorf- Olten be used for replacement trains on the NBS and by the LBT and respectively by MRP pendulum ( Re 4 /4 "with EW I / II) replaced. Moreover, these compositions are also used for special trains and reinforcements at occasions deducted.

From 2016, the trains will be complemented by 59 double-deck trainsets from Bombardier TWINDEXX.
