Icaro Air

Icaro Air was an Ecuadorian airline based in Quito and based on the Quito airport.

Destinations

Icaro flew June 2009 from Quito to Guayaquil and Manta. Since July 2009 Icaro Air operate with a Boeing 737- 290C and cargo flight from Quito to Bogota.

Fleet

The fleet consisted of Icaro Air as of July 2009 with three aircraft and four helicopters:

  • 1 Boeing 737- 290C
  • 2 Eurocopter AS 350
  • 1 Bell 212
  • 1 Boeing Vertol CH- 47C

Incidents

  • On September 22, 2008 shortly after 11:00 local time clock started a Fokker F -28 Icaro from Quito Mariscal Sucre airport with destination Coca. The machine collided with an antenna and was about 400m behind the runway on a wall to stand. It developed a fire that could be, however, quickly brought under control. None of the 62 passengers or crew members were injured in this incident. The Quito airport was closed in the episode for about an hour. The reason for the incident is unclear.

Trivia

  • In June 2008, Icaro Air received international attention with the introduction of 25 -minute fashion show called "Sky Fashion" on some flights between Quito and Guayaquil.
