Ice Hockey European Championship 1926

The 10th Hockey Championship was a highlight of the European Championship history. With nine participating teams, 25 games and a duration of eight days, the tournament broke all previous records. The championship was held for the third time in Switzerland, was played from 11 to 18 January 1926. All games took place in Davos. Participants in addition to Switzerland hosts the defending Czechoslovakia, Great Britain, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Poland and Belgium.

The high number of participants required a complex host mode. It was played first in three preliminary round groups of three teams. The group winners qualified directly for the final round, while the runners-up ( all games were played in one day ) in a repechage playing off the fourth Final Round participants. The third- placed teams from the preliminary round groups played in a placement round to the eighth and ninth and the chance as the winner of the Placement Round then be able to still play against the third- placed teams from the repechage for sixth place.

Became European Champion in Switzerland, which took advantage of their home field advantage, and, but only was able to prevail in a round decision, defending champions Czechoslovakia and Austria.
