Ice sledge hockey at the 2002 Winter Paralympics

In the VIII Paralympic Winter Games in 2002 in Salt Lake City a sledge ice hockey tournament for men was conducted with six participating nations.

After Canada had already met at the 2000 Sledge Hockey Championships the reigning Olympic champion Norway from the throne, this time with the Americans as well as the Swedes in the 3rd place match the Penalty Shoot-out the United States could prevail in the final against Norway, required to earn the desired medal.

For the U.S., this was the biggest success in the international sledge hockey, while the Norwegians maintained their top position after the gold medal in 1998 and the second places at the Paralympics in 1994 and the World Cup 2000.
