Iceland Democratic Party

The Lýðræðisvaktin Party ( Letter L ) is a political party in Iceland. The party whose name can be literally translated as democracy or democracy - Guard observers also used the English name Iceland Democratic Party ( Democratic Party of Iceland or Iceland Democratic Party ).

History

The party was founded on 16 February 2013, the primary objective to adopt the drafted by the Constitutional Council in the last legislative period new constitution.

On initial start of the parliamentary election in 2013 the party took around 2.5 percent, which was not given a seat in the national parliament Althingi.

Program

In its program, the party depends, inter alia for the following:

  • Increased autonomy for local authorities
  • Iceland should be made a destination of untouched nature
  • Sustainable and competitive agriculture
  • Ensuring social security and social services
  • A stable economic recovery and an efficient division of labor between public and private companies
  • Strict regulation of financial institutions, among others, by the abolition of indexation of mortgage loans
  • Adoption of the reports prepared by the Constitutional Council in the last legislative period new constitution in a referendum
  • Equality of men and women in all sectors of society
  • Accession to the European Union through the holding of a binding referendum
