Iceland Express

Iceland Express was an Icelandic low-cost airline based in Keflavík and base on the Keflavik airport. It was taken on October 23, 2012 by WOW air and integrated in it.

History

Iceland Express was founded in 2003 and was owned by the Icelandic Holding Fons Eignarhaldsfélag hf. Air traffic was carried out until 2008 with two McDonnell Douglas MD -90 and Boeing 757-200. The McDonnell Douglas MD -90 and its crew were up to the end of 2008 hosted and operated by the Swiss company Hello AG. The Hello AG was also responsible for the maintenance and insurance of the flight material. The three- year contract was not extended beyond the end of 2008.

Since September 16 Astraeus flew on behalf of the airline, for two Boeing 737-700 and one Boeing 757-200 - and thus the entire fleet - ready made ​​. After the insolvency Holidays Czech Airlines jumped.

On October 23, 2012 Iceland Express was taken over by WOW air. In this case, all tickets sold by Iceland Express were taken. All routes from Iceland Express will continue to operate, but now under the brand WOW air.

Objectives

Iceland Express flew from Keflavik airport to various European destinations such as Copenhagen, Milan, Friedrichshafen and Warsaw. Since June 2010 via Reykjavik flights were also offered to New York City and Winnipeg, which, however, were discontinued before the takeover.
