Iceland women's national handball team

The Icelandic Women's national handball team represents Iceland in international tournaments in women's handball.

After the Icelandic selection several times unsuccessfully participated in qualifying rounds to major international tournaments, she qualified first time in 2010 for the European Championships. In the qualifying round Iceland took second place in front of the tied Austrians due to a better goal difference. At the European Championships 2010, the Icelanders already retired from after the first round and thus occupied the 15th place. A year later, the Icelandic women qualified for the first time for the World Cup. Here came the Icelanders ago to the last sixteen. In qualifying for the 2012 European Championship Iceland failed just barely. The withdrawal of the host Netherlands, Iceland received the vacated starting place. Iceland finished in 15th place at the Euro 2012.
