History

The Icelandic national ice hockey team made ​​its debut at the World Championship in 2005, when they finished fourth in the Division IV. After a fifth place in Division IV at the 2007 World Cup, the Icelanders were 2008 sovereign in first place in their division and achieve promotion to the next higher division.

Once during the World Cup 2009 played only the first three levels and in the Olympic year of 2010 already held no World Cup, the entire WM system was revised for the 2011 World Championships and Iceland had to stay later in the Division IV.
