Icelandic New Energy
Icelandic New Energy Ltd. ( Íslensk NýOrka ehf ) is an Icelandic power companies.
Icelandic New Energy promotes the use of hydrogen fuel in Iceland. The company was founded following the decision made in 1998 by the Icelandic Parliament, Iceland transform into a hydrogen economy and to achieve total independence from fossil fuels by 2050 in 1999.
Icelandic New Energy was formed by a draft of the research, which was conducted by the University of Iceland and, with 51% to Vistorka, the rest is held by DaimlerChrysler, Norsk Hydro and Shell Hydrogen in equal parts. VistOrka itself belongs to Icelandic New Business Venture Fund ( Nýsköpunarsjóður ), the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the national electricity company Landsvirkjun, Reykjavík Energy ( Orkuveitu Reykjavík ), Hitaveita Suðurnesja, the Technological Institute of Iceland, the Fertilizer Plant ( Áburðarverksmiðjan ) the University of Iceland and the Reykjavik Resources.
Since the establishment of Icelandic New Energy has made a number of hydrogen experimental projects in the country. The company is also involved in the hydrogen fuel counseling, educational seminars and other activities.
