Ichita Yamamoto

Ichita Yamamoto (Japanese山 本 一 太, Yamamoto Ichita; born January 24, 1958 in Kusatsu, Circle Agatsuma, Gunma Prefecture) is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party ( LDP), one of the two representatives of the Gunma prefecture in the Senate (Official 2019 ) and since 2012 Minister in the second cabinet of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Yamamoto graduated a graduated from the Faculty of Law, Chuo Daigaku and postgraduate studies at Georgetown University. From 1986 he worked for the kokusai kyōryoku jigyōdan (English Japan International Cooperation Agency ), the forerunner of today's kokusai kyōryoku Kiko (English Japan International Cooperation Agency ), which coordinates Japanese development assistance as a self -regulatory body for the government. In 1991 he was transferred to the headquarters of the United Nations Development Programme in New York.

In the active policy Yamamoto moved in the Senate election in 1995 when he stood as a candidate in Gunma for the succession of his deceased a few months before the election father Tomio Yamamoto, former Agriculture Minister and Secretary General of the LDP faction in the Senate, the Gunma had there since 1977. Gunma chose 1995, two senators per part choice: With clearly the highest share of votes (44 %) before the re-elected socialist incumbent Giichi Tsunoda (27%) won Yamamoto a seat - his father had six years before achieved with a clear residue only the second highest share of the vote behind Tsunoda. In the 2001 election Yamamoto and Tsunoda were (now Democrat ) reelected in the same sequence ( Yamamoto 40 %, Tsunoda 28%). As Gunma at the Senate election in 2007 to Einmandatswahlkreis was presented the Democratic Party does not own rival candidates on, only her little coalition partners NVP and the JCP: Yamamoto was confidently re-elected with 62 % of the vote for a third term. In the 2013 election, he was with 71.9 % of the vote against Democrat Fujiko Kagaya (15.3%) and two other nominees once again confirmed in office.

In 2008, he was the Cabinet Minister Yasuo Fukuda Vice Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2012 in the second cabinet Abe Minister to the Cabinet Office for Special Tasks ( Okinawa and the Northern Territories, science and technology policy, space policy ) and received additional responsibilities (without separate budget for other ministries or agencies located ) for IT policy, maritime affairs and territorial conflicts.
