Ida Applebroog

Ida Applebroog ( born November 11, 1929 in Bronx, New York) is an American sculptor and painter.

Life

Applebroog studied between 1947-1950 at the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Science, and received an honorary doctorate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she also taught from 1966 to 1968. The next four years working as a freelance sculptor Applebroog before 1974 accepted a teaching position at the University of California at San Diego. At the same time, she found her passion in painting. Today she lives and works in New York City.

1998 she was a MacArthur Fellow.
