Idas

Ida (Greek Ἴδας ) is in Greek mythology, the son of Aphareus ) and arenes. Together with his twin brother Lynkeus Ida was one of the Argonauts. He took with him also participated in the Calydonian hunt. After the Libraries of Apollodorus, he was regarded as a son of Poseidon.

Ida is said to have had little luck in love: His first wife, the cousin Phoebe has robbed him of the Dioscuri Castor, his second wife, Marpessa wanted to choose Apollo, but the foreseeable future fight between the mortal Idas and Apollo was stopped by Zeus, Marpessa let you choose. Marpessa chose Idas. With him she had a daughter Cleopatra.

The disputes between Lynceus and Idas on one side with the Dioscuri Castor and Pollux on the other side culminated in the killing of Castor by Idas, whereupon he was killed by Zeus with a flash. Lynceus was killed by Polydeuces.
