IDEA League

The IDEA League is a strategic alliance of four leading technical universities in Europe.

One of the main objectives of the IDEA League is to maintain Europe's position in the world rankings in technology and science. This will be achieved through the cooperation of Europe's best institutions.

Founded as the IDEA League was signed on 6 October 1999 when a Memorandum of Understanding between the four founding members. The name of the IDEA League is made up of the names of the four founding members. The founding members at that time were:

  • Imperial College London (United Kingdom )
  • TU Delft (Netherlands)
  • ETH Zurich ( Switzerland )
  • RWTH Aachen ( Germany )

In 2006, the ParisTech (France) joined as the fifth member of the IDEA League. In December 2012, the Imperial College left the IDEA League.

In 2013, the IDEA League consists of the following universities:

  • TU Delft (Netherlands)
  • RWTH Aachen ( Germany )
  • ParisTech (France)
