Iden, Saxony-Anhalt

Iden is a municipality in the district of Stendal in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ). It belongs to the municipality Arneburg - Goldbeck.

Geography

Iden is on the edge of the Altmark in Brushes, about ten kilometers away from the river Elbe and about 13 kilometers east of the town Osterburg ( Altmark).

Identity consists of the main village and the hamlets Ides Busch, Büttnershof, Germer Location, Kannenberg and Rohrbeck.

History

Iden, bush and Rohrbeck were originally farming villages with manor and a small number of artisans, by the end of the 19th century came a noticeable economic development through steam air, rail, sugar beet cultivation and animal breeding. It originated with the estate a recognized pattern operation. Beginning in 1945, agricultural science was operated in Iden; the former estate was handed over for research purposes of the University of Halle. Teaching and training were operated, scientists moved into the community to work here. In 1962, the experimental farm Ides then became the Institute of Animal Breeding and Husbandry of the German Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Berlin. 1972 called it the Institute for cattle production with a focus on technology.

In the course of municipal reform the then independent municipality Sandauerholz was incorporated into Iden on 1 July 2009.
