Idenau

Province

Idenau is a place in the southwest province of Cameroon's Atlantic coast at Bibundi, west of Mount Cameroon and near the border with Nigeria. It lies at an altitude of 80 meters above sea level and has about 15,000 inhabitants.

The place takes its name from the German colonial period. Founder in 1897 /98 Mannheim entrepreneur Ferdinand Scipio ( 1837-1905 ). The German colonial lexicon of 1920 recorded as the owner, the Stuttgart private companies Idenau - planting to be planted on the territory of cocoa, rubber, bananas, oil palm, coffee.

Located on an estuary, there are now a small fishing port and to a lesser extent, tourism. Nearby Idenaus oil palms are grown in large plantations.
