The Ider (Mongolian Идэр гол or Идэрийн гол / Ideriin gol ) is 57 m³ / s, the bigger and with 452 km also the longer of the two source rivers of the Selenga River in Mongolia (Asia ) and thus hydrologically the main branch of the Yenisei River system. The generally eastward flowing Ider unites with the last southeastward flowing second source river Delgermörön to Selenge.

Course

The Ider arises in the east of Dsawchan Aimag in the Khangai Mountains about 50 km northeast of its highest mountain, the Otgon Tenger Uul. It sets out its name from the combination of two source streams to around 2330 m altitude.

Initially, the Ider Tarwagatain Mountains flows in the nature reserve in the foothills of the Khangai Mountains to the northwest, then in a northerly direction. Then it flows mainly by east-northeast and then turns to her last kilometers at the confluence of its main tributary Chuluut north.

Hydrology, ice and navigability
