Geography

The village is located in the south-west Eifel, about 15 km south of the district town of Bitburg. In the south of the municipal boundary at the same time forms the boundary between the district of Bitburg -Prüm and the district of Trier -Saar castle. Of the 6.72 km ² large municipality, a comparatively large proportion is used for agriculture with 74%, only 18% are passed by forest. One kilometer west of Idesheim runs the federal highway 51, which leads among other things to Bitburg.

History

The settlement of the Idesbacher municipal area has occurred very early. This is suggested by numerous stone age finds and Roman period settlement remains in the field names In the book, Königsberg, Jeich and Hühnerbach out. The first documentary mention as " Adinesheim " took place in an exchange deed between the monastery of Prüm and Count Sigard in the year 844. Parish council

Attractions

The Catholic branch church " St. Appolonia " consists, inter alia, from the east tower built in 1717 and the nave of 1811.
