IDLH

IDLH ( Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health) is a reference value for the maximum concentration of a substance in the air, in which, if one takes refuge within 30 minutes, bears no serious or permanent damage them. The IDLH value was created in the seventies by U.S. authorities because they wanted to know the substance specific concentration that still ensures the evacuation in the precipitation of a respirator.

Problem areas

Problem areas of this value is that the definition of the objective of protection covers only inaccurate identifications of the severity of effects tolerated. In addition, the procedure for extrapolation to 30 minutes is comparatively schematically. The third point to note is that an analysis of the data takes place only at the level of secondary literature and the motivations of the values are correspondingly inaccurate.
