Ido Nehoshtan

Ido Nehuschtan (Hebrew עידו נחושתן; born 1957 ) is an Israeli Aluf ( Major General ) and member of the armed forces of Israel. On 4 April 2008 Nehuschtan took over the command of the Israeli Air Force of Eljezer Schkedi. His successor, the planning staff is Amir Eshel.

Military career

Nehuschtan stepped into the IDF in 1975 and completed pilot training at an air base in the Sinai Peninsula, which he completed in 1977. He first flew Skyhawks and in 1978 was retrained on the Phantom, with the 107th squadron of the IAF was equipped.

During his career, was Nehuschtan fighter pilot, flight instructor, member of the art Squadron and then as deputy commander of the Major 253 Squadron and as a lieutenant colonel commanding the 140th Squadron on the air force base in Hazor. Later he stood in front of the weapons department in the headquarters of the Air Force and IAF Department of Planning and organization.

In 2000, he was promoted to the rank of brigadier general. He was commander of the air reconnaissance and from 2002 to the Operations Department. In 2004 he joined the General Staff of the Air Force. On 8 June 2006 he was transferred at the request of the then Ramatkal Dan Chalutz in the planning and strategy department of the General Staff. Nehuschtan remained until the spring of 2008 in this post. On February 15, 2008, he Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi appointed as the new commander of the Air Force.

Education and personal life

Ido Nehuschtan studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem mathematics and computer science. He also gained diplomas in Business Administration and Management from Harvard University and Northwestern University in Chicago.

Nehuschtan is married and has three children.
