Idrieus

Idrieus or Hidrieus († 344 BC) ruled since 351 BC as the satrap of Caria ( on the southwest coast of modern Turkey). He was one of Hekatomniden, so will the Son of Hekatomnos and thus brother of Ada, Artemisia II, mouse solos and Pixodaros. His mother is unknown.

Idrieus was married to his sister Ada and was, after the death of Artemisia, along with Ada satrap of Caria. Sibling marriages were common in the dynasty of the Hekatomniden. Idrieus reigned seven years. During this time Artaxerxes III attacked. Egypt and later Sidon. Sidon was taken and the inhabitants fled to Cyprus. Then Artaxerxes ordered the satrap of Caria, to gather an army to retake Cyprus again. This was Idrieus in 345 BC

344 BC Idrieus died of an illness. Previously, he had his wife and sister Ada explained to his successor, but this was a mistake, because her younger brother Pixadoros Ada crashed.
