Ids Postma

Ids Postma ( born December 28, 1973 in Deersum, Netherlands ) is a retired Dutch speed skater.

Career

Postma was in 1997 in Nagano -around world champion. He defended that title in 1998 in Heerenveen. In addition, he won four silver medals and one bronze medal in the all-around world championships.

In World Single Distance Championships Postma won gold in 1996 over 5000 meters and 1500 meters silver. In 1999 and 2000 he won the title over 1500 meters, respectively.

Postma also in 1997 all-around European Champion.

At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano Postma won the gold medal in the 1000 meters and a silver medal over 1500 meters.

On 28 October 2004 Postma announced his resignation.

Postma was the friend of the Dutch speed skater Renske Vellinga, when she came in a car accident in 1994 killed.

Postmaster wife is the German speed skater Anni Friesinger - Postma, with whom he has been married in a civil ceremony since 11 August 2009. The wedding ceremony was performed in Salzburg in Austria. On August 15, 2010, the church wedding took place in Deersum. Their daughter Josephine came on August 13, 2011 in Meppen to the world.
