Iecava

Iecava ( German: Eckau ) is a Latvian town and lies about 40 km south of the capital, Riga, on the river Iecava. The city is the center of a 2003 formed from the local government district ( Iecavas novads ).

Economy and infrastructure

The company based in Iecava Balticovo ( one of the largest egg producers in Eastern Europe ), Iecavnieks ( vegetable oil producer, producing among other high-priced hemp oil) and a manufacturer of alcohol make the place into an economic center of the region. The Via Baltica ( Europe Straße 67 ) performs Iecava.

History and national heritage

The city formed around the estate Eckau, of which only the foundations and a few farm buildings have been preserved. The park was created and maintained until the beginning of the 20th century landscape park in the English style, now he resembles an idyllic grown river landscape. The park is also an open air theater. Architecturally, of some importance is the old hospital, east of the park.
