Ienăchiţă Văcărescu
Ienachita Vacarescu (* 1740, † July 11, 1797 ) was a Wallachian diplomat, poet, historian, linguist and Rumänist.
Life and work
Vacarescu came from a boyar in the Principality of Wallachia. He was very learned and multilingual, poems, a history of the Ottoman Empire, a small Turkish- Romanian Dictionary ( 1790 ) and in 1787 by Italian models, wrote one of the first grammars of Romanian, which was used by Ion Heliade - Rădulescu for his own grammar of 1828.
In Targoviste is a school named in Bucharest a street after him.
