Creation and publication
Alicia Keys worked all alone on this song, it wrote, produced it, recorded the song. The accompanying music video was shot and directed by Diane Martel. It was in Manhattan, New York City turned. The rapper Method Man plays in the video Keys' friend.
The single was released in February 2004 as the second single from the album and reached after a short time the fourth place in the American Billboard Hot 100 It was Keys' second number-one hit on the R & B and hip- hop charts, where it six weeks was at the head. The song reached the third place in the American charts year 2004 and was the third most successful single of the year in the United States. The song was a total of 40 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 and is Keys' longest single located there; it was the first single by a female artist who was more than a year on the Hot R & B / Hip- Hop charts.
The song won at the Grammy Awards 2005 Grammy and was nominated in two categories.
There are three remixes of the song, one with Usher, Kanye West with a radio mix and a Spanish language version with Arturo Sandoval, which is included as a bonus song on The Diary of Alicia Keys.

The song reached on July 3, 2004, third place in the Billboard Hot 100 There was a total of 46 weeks in the U.S. charts and is Keys' longest- standing single in the charts today. In the Hot R & B / Hip- Hop Charts the single on 1 May 2004 reached the top of the charts and was there for six weeks. She became the first single by a female artist, who remained about a year in the local charts, a total of 56 weeks. The single reached ninth in the U.S. pop charts. In the United Kingdom, the single reached the top twenty with 18th place
