Ifs (Calvados)

Ifs is a commune with 11,347 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Calvados in the Basse -Normandie. The inhabitants call themselves Ifois (it).

Geography

Ifs is located five kilometers south of Caen and is adjacent to the south of the urban area. The community is located at the intersection of N814 and N158 of.

History

The territory of the municipality Ifs was settled in the 5th century BC. Excavations of 1982 also brought to light Gallo- Roman buildings. A first written record comes from the year 1070. 1077, the parish mentioned as a donation to the monastery of St-Etienne de Caen.
