Geography

Iggensbach lies in the Danube- forest and in the area of the Bavarian Forest Nature Park. Through the community's Kleine Ohe, which belongs to the Danube river basin flows.

The largest districts are next Iggensbach the villages of Reichenbach, Handlab, Gstein, Gschwendt, Holling, Sieber thing and Schöllnstein. There is only the district Iggensbach.

History

First, the place was mentioned in 947 as " Itenespah ". From 1130 to about 1600 was the site owned by the Bavarian dukes, since the 15th century, the place is run as Hofmark. Castles

  • Located in the picturesque hamlet of Schöllnstein the castle ruins Schöllnstein found on a tongue- shaped projection.
