Iglica

Iglica is a needle-shaped building in Wroclaw, Poland. The ensemble of Iglica and the Centennial Hall is one of the landmarks of the city.

History

Iglica was built in 1948, designed by the engineer Stanisław Hempel and was originally 106 meters high.

On the tower levels were initially installed, the illuminated, should provide lighting effects. They were destroyed on July 20, 1948 during a storm. Their remains were removed in October 1948 by two student climbers.

Since the year 1964, the amount of partially degraded tower is only 96 meters.
