Iglo

Iglo (proper spelling: Iglo ) is a German company based in Hamburg, which was established on 1 July 2006 as part of the separation of Unilever. Iglo is a company which belongs to the German Iglo Group, which in turn is subsumed under the Iglo Holding GmbH, based in Bremerhaven. Relevant operational units of the holding company are located in Hamburg (about 90 employees) and Reken (approx. 530 employees) and in Bremerhaven with the Frozen Fish International GmbH (FFI ) ( fish processing, 840 employees).

History

From 1939 to 1961, the frozen food manufacturer has operated under a Solo Frozen with 18 production sites, including in Emden and Wunstorf. In 1959 the first frozen fish sticks were produced.

1960, the name " Igloo " was first used in the marketing of frozen food products such as fish sticks and spinach in the Netherlands, where Iglo is the Dutch term for igloo. In 1961, Unilever decided, instead of the English name of the sister company "Birds Eye" to use the name Iglo also in Germany. This also followed the change of name of the company in Iglo fresh frozen and it was started with the manufacture and sale of frozen spinach in Germany.

The Lagnese -Iglo GmbH was created in 1963 from a merger of the two Unilever companies Lagnese ice cream GmbH (since 1936 at Unilever ) and Iglo GmbH. On January 1, 1970, the Company acquired from Nestlé the Findus Jopa GmbH, headquartered in Frankfurt am Main and took over the production of frozen food and ice in Reken. 1980 following the introduction of the frozen pizza brand " Crossa ".

In August 2005, the Lagnese -Iglo GmbH became part of Unilever Germany GmbH and no longer functioned as an independent company.

After 45 years, on 9 February 2006, Unilever announced the sale of its European frozen food brands " Igloo " and "Birds Eye". The reasons for the increasing competition were called by cheap products and low profit and growth prospects. Only in Italy, where strong brand " Findus " was retained. Therefore the range of frozen food was spun off to the newly formed Iglo GmbH on July 1, 2006. In 1985, the advertising character "Captain Iglo " was introduced in Germany. This is based on the 1966 invented by the advertising agency Lintas figure " Captain Birds Eye". Since then, the "Captain Iglo " with different actors was occupied, including 2008-2010 by actor Gerd German man.

The Iglo logo with the three -pronged fork was replaced in 2004. The new Iglo logo is described as follows:

Standards

Some of the Iglo products are equipped with the MSC certification for sustainability, for example, the Captain - Iglo fish sticks. Products

Iglo produces a wide range of frozen food products, which are marketed under the umbrella brand Iglo.
