Ignacio Aldecoa

Ignacio Aldecoa ( born July 24, 1925 in Vitoria- Gasteiz, † November 15, 1969 in Madrid) was a Spanish writer.

Life

Ignacio Aldecoa grew up in the Basque city of Vitoria in a middle-class family. After graduating from the Colegio Santa María of the Marianists in 1942 he began to study philosophy and literature at the University of Salamanca. In 1945 he moved to the University Complutense of Madrid, where he alongside Jesús Fernández Santos, Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio, José María de Quinto, Alfonso Sastre also the writer Josefina Rodríguez met, whom he married in 1952.

Aldecoa belongs to the generation of writers of the 50s, who witnessed the civil war only as a child and wrote in the neo-realist style. His first stories appeared in magazines such as La Hora, Juventud y Alcalá and Haz. He published his first books of poetry Todavía la vida (1947 ) and Libro de las algas (1949 ). For his story Seguir de pobres he received in 1953 the price of the magazine Juventud. In 1954 his novel El fulgor y la sangre occupied (Eng. sheen and blood) second place in the Premio Planeta, his novel Gran Sol received in 1958 the Premio de la Crítica. Ignacioa Aldecoa died in 1969 in Madrid.
