Ignatius Kilage

Sir Ignatius Kilage GCMG (* 1941 † 31 December 1989) was a politician of New Guinea papua.

Biography

Throughout his political career he was ombudsman in the country and was on 1 March 1989 succeeded Sir Kingsford Dibela as Governor General of Papua New Guinea. After taking office, he was appointed by Queen Elizabeth II to Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George.

On December 31, 1989, he died suddenly and unexpectedly during the New Year celebrations in his office. After his death in 1991, according to him, " Sir Ignatius Kilage stage " name.

Kilage was also a well-known writer of Papua New Guinea. Among his better-known books include:
