Ignaz Lachner

Ignaz Lachner ( born September 17, 1807 in Rain, † February 25, 1895 in Hannover ) was a German composer and conductor.

Life

Ignaz Lachner was born into a musical family. His father was an organist Anton, with him, he received his first lessons as a violin player. His brothers Franz and Vincent and his step- brother Theodore were also composers.

After he had already occurred as a six year-old boy with public acclaim he was at the age of 15 years on Isartortheater in Munich employment. In 1826 he became organist at the Reformed Church in Vienna, then member of the orchestra at the Court Opera, 1831 Music Director in Stuttgart, and soon afterwards in Munich. In 1853 he was Kapellmeister in Hamburg and in 1861 Kapellmeister at the City Theater in Frankfurt am Main, from which position he retired in 1875.

His birthplace Rain pays tribute to him with a street name, the brothers - Lachner Museum, which is housed in its birthplace, as well as the naming of the brothers - Lachner Middle School.

Works

Of his compositions have (for example, The last Fensterln ) found appeal particularly to the Alps scenes. He also wrote two operas, sonatas, string quartets, and many songs.
