Igney (Meurthe-et-Moselle)

Igney is a commune with 121 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Luneville and Canton Blâmont.

Geography

The municipality is located on the border of Igney Moselle, about midway between Sarrebourg and Luneville.

History

The place belonged to the German - French war to the neighboring canton Réchicourt -le- Château and was ceded to the German empire, but France was able to get him back again in October 1871, renegotiations.

Igney had because of the proximity to the major border station of Avricourt then much larger population ( 880 inhabitants end of the 19th century ).
