Igor Oistrakh

Igor Oistrakh Davidovich (Ukrainian Ігор Давидович Ойстрах; Russian Игорь Давидович Ойстрах, scientific transliteration Igor Oistrakh Davidovič; * April 27, 1931 in Odessa ) is a Russian- Ukrainian violinist.

Life

Igor Oistrakh is the son of David Oistrakh and one of the foremost disciples of his father.

Study

With 6 years, he turned to the violin. He took lessons from Valeri Merenblum and Pyotr Stolyarski, and studied at the Moscow Conservatory, among others, in the master class of his famous father David, with whom he a quarter of a century, formed a celebrated duo. In 1947 she gave a first joint concert with Bach's D minor Concerto and Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante, which became the trademark of making music together.

Concert career

His debut in the western world he gave at the Royal Albert Hall. This was followed by concert tours of the U.S., Europe, Russia, Canada, South America, Japan and Australia. He has performed with leading orchestras and conductors in the world and has performed with Pablo Casals and Yehudi Menuhin. Since 1968 he is also active as an orchestral conductor and violist.

Prizes and awards

First prizes won Igor Oistrakh at the international competition in Budapest in 1949 and at the International Wieniawski Competition in Poznan in 1952.

For the recording of the complete Beethoven sonatas together with his wife, the pianist Natalia Serzalowa, the artist couple has been awarded the honorary membership of the Beethoven Society in Bonn. For the recording of the complete Mozart Violin Sonatas with them as interpreters, Ariola - euro disc was awarded the Viennese musical clock.

Educational activities

Since 1996, Igor Oistrakh professor at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. His son Valery Oistrakh also a well-known violinist, continues the family tradition in the third generation.

Many of his students are eminent artists, including the Slovak- Austrian violin soloist Jela Špitková nowadays.
