Igor Protti

Igor Protti (* September 24, 1967 in Rimini, RN ) is a retired Italian footballer.

The ( external) forward played the longest of his career at AS Livorno and is along with Dario Hübner, the only player ever in Serie A, Series B and Series C scorer.

Career

Protti played the longest period of his long career with unterklassigen teams, but was best known for his 24 goals in Serie A 1995/96 season, when he was top scorer along with Giuseppe Signori and although his team (AS Bari) descent. In 1996, Protti but then to a top club, SS Lazio, in which, however, he could not prevail. After brief engagements with the SSC Napoli and AC Reggiana be Protti decided in 1999 to go to the club where his career began right at AS Livorno. Under his leadership the club in 2004 rose from Serie C1 to Serie A on.

Last Season

His last season as a professional footballer in 2004/05 should be his best: he made with the AS Livorno one never thought possible ninth place in the table. His last competitive game he played on 22 May 2007 against Juventus (2-2 ). The at that time 37 -year-old capped his career with a gateway to the intermediate 1:1 compensation. Protti, who said goodbye with tears, was replaced with a standing ovation.

Status in Livorno

In honor of Igor Protti, who scored 120 goals for Livorno in 268 games, making it a record player and record scorer in Livorno, the decision was his number 10 never to forgive again. In 2007 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Livorno. The President of Livorno, Aldo Spinelli, said this about him: " Protti was our best captain, a symbol of the club.
