Igor Shalimov

Igor Mikhailovich Shalimov (Russian Игорь Михайлович Шалимов, scientific transliteration Igor ' Michajlovič Salimov; born February 2, 1969 in Moscow ) is a retired Russian football player and former head coach of the Russian national football team of women.

Shalimov began his career at Spartak Moscow. In 1991 he moved to Italy to U.S. Foggia. There he knew to persuade and was headhunted by a season of Inter Milan. After two years he moved to the German Bundesliga MSV Duisburg. Here, he played 21 games, before he returned in 1995 over FC Lugano in Switzerland to Italy Udinese Calcio. But even here he remained only a short time and changed with the start of the 1996/97 season with FC Bologna. After the season 1998/99 at Napoli he ended his career.

Shalimov debuted in 1990 in the national football team of the USSR. In total he played until the collapse of the state in 1991 20 times for the selection, which reach two goals to him, and took part in the 1990 World Cup. He then played four times for the selection of the CIS, for which he took part in the European Championship 1992. After the tournament, he was the Russian national team. Until 1998, he ran 23 times the national team, scoring three goals. With Russia, he played in the European Championship 1996.

From May 2008 to April 2011 Shalimov was head coach of the Russian women's national team. Since then he has worked as sports director for the Russian football federation.
