Igor Talankin

Igor ( Industri) Talankin Vasilyevich (Russian Игорь ( Индустрий ) Васильевич Таланкин ) ( born October 3, 1927 in Bogorodsk (now Noginsk ), USSR); † July 24, 2010 in Moscow) was a Soviet and Russian film director and screenwriter.

Life

Talankin visited the Alexander Glazunov School of Music and Drama, where he graduated in 1950 his education. Then he studied at the Faculty of Director of the State Academy of Theatre Arts ( GITIS ) ( completion 1955).

In 1959 he finished the Higher Courses for Writers ( scenarist ) and directors at the film studios "Mosfilm ", after he was already working there since 1958 as a director. Two years later Talankin debuted with the film Serjoscha together with Georgi Danelija. This film debut of two young directors was awarded at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary.

Igor Talankin also wrote the screenplays for his films. The music was written by mainly the Soviet composer Alfred Schnittke.

Starting in 1964, taught at Talankin Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography ( WGIK ) as director of a master class for actors and directors, from 1976 he was a professor there.

Talankin died in July 2010 at the age of 83.

Honors

His film Tchaikovsky was nominated as best foreign language film in 1969 for the Academy Award in 1972 for a Golden Globe Award. Talankin 1965 Honored Artist of the RSFSR in 1974 and People's Artist of RFSFR 1988 People's Artist of the USSR. 1977, the Soviet Order of the Red Banner of Labor, 1998, the Russian Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 4th stage, he was awarded. On 21 January 2003 he received the letter of thanks of the Russian President for his great contribution to the development of patriotic art of cinema.
