Igor Tudor

Igor Tudor ( born April 16, 1978 in Split ) is a former Croatian football player and coach.

During his playing days he was a defender, could be used and was known especially for his duel and heading ability in central defense and defensive midfield. In the summer of 2008, Tudor had to end his career due to a serious ankle injury.

Since April 29, 2013, trained Hajduk Split.

Playing career

In the club

Igor Tudor began his career with the Croatian giants Hajduk Split and was considered a great talent. In the summer of 1998, he spent the equivalent of about 3.7 million euros to the Italian giants Juventus. There he was safe under Marcello Lippi and Carlo Ancelotti long time an important part of the team and had partly also a regular place. In 2001, Tudor was voted on Croatia's Footballer of the Year. Gradually, however, he had to miss the necessary safety requirements, it was rarely used under Fabio Capello, who in 2004 was coach in Turin from summer. Therefore, the Croat was awarded to AC Siena during the winter break of the 2004/05 season, where he played until the summer of 2006.

For 2006/ 07 Igor Tudor returned to Juventus, which had relegated in Serie B due to the manipulation scandal in 2005/ 06. Tudor was injured in pre-season hard, was injured almost half a year and was not at all used.

For the season 2007/ 08, the defender moved free transfer back to his home country to Hajduk Split. In summer 2008, Igor Tudor had to quit at the age of 30 years, his career due to a serious ankle injury.

In the National Team

Igor Tudor played a total of 55 times for the Croatian national team, scoring three goals. He made his debut in 1997 against Ukraine. Tudor was a participant in the 1998 World Championships in France, where he finished third with Croatia, and in 2006 in Germany, and the 2004 European Championships in Portugal. The 2002 World Cup, he missed due to injury.

Coaching career

From summer 2009 to February 2010 was Tudor assistant coach from Italian Edoardo Reja, who supervised Hajduk Split at this time. In December 2012, he guest student at his former club Juventus, where his former team-mate Antonio Conte now worked trainer and became the coach of the U -17 Hajduk appointed.

On April 29th 2013 Igor Tudor was appointed Head Coach of Hajduk Split. He succeeds by Miso Krstičević, whose assistant he had been before.
