Igram van Achelen

Igram van Achelen (* um 1528 in 's-Hertogenbosch, † October 18, 1604 in Mechelen ) was a Frisian politician.

Life

Achelen studied law at the Universities of Deventer, suffering and lions. In 1550, he was appointed by the Emperor Charles V. as a member of the Friesland Provincial Council, 1570 President of the Frisian Council of State. In the 1570s he went to numerous dike in Friesland deserves.

During the founding of the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands Achelen siding with Don Juan de Austria was accused and put in prison in 1578. In 1586 he was released and rehabilitated with appointment as a knight. He was appointed a member of the Privy Council. 1598, he became president of the Great Council of Malines.
